About this cartoon: The response to the coronavirus pandemic from the White House and many states was one of inaction if not indifference. Gov. Gavin Newsom of California, along with Gov. Andrew Cuomo of New York (although Newsom acted faster), each took strong action, ordering everyone to be in lockdown to "flatten the curve" and keep their states' hospitals from being overwhelmed by COVID-19 cases.
